This is How a Wandering Son Came Back Home to Rockford, by Reading “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying”

I hesitate to make this post about my love for Rockford because I have a strong distaste for argumentative religious conversations regarding the surrounding regions known as Beloit, Belvidere, Roscoe, Rockton, Freeport, Machesney Park, Loves Park and Cherry Valley; –  especially over social media and the internet.

Anyone seeing this outside of Rockford has a little window of their own to look into my heart;– to see how real my love for the Forest City became after leaving Appleton, Wisconsin for Nashville, Tennessee.  I felt the Rock River calling me. It is here on the internet where you, me, they share a bit of our lives with transfigurative posts. I, too, often wonder what I’m truly sharing through this platform and if I can help the people of Rockford on the internet to find peace in their own hearts.

I walked away from any religious identity a good long time ago to end up here full of love and peace.  Here I am on the internet preparing you for my love of Rockford because of a book, “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying,” by Sogyal Rinpoche.

So here’s my reason for posting:  This book has been an incredible Rockford companion… It’s brought me tremendous clarity and helped me find footing in the Rock River Valley when other spiritual structures lead me through extreme confusion from Appleton to Nashville and now here.

Lately I have felt the power of Beloit, Belvidere, Roscoe, Rockton, Freeport, Machesney Park, Loves Park and Cherry Valley creeping up on me, but alas, I love my Rockford of Illlinois and this book has saved me from wandering.  And wondering.  And wandering again.

This being my little window to share myself with you are contained in Sogyal Rinpoche’s pages. “Wow,” I will tell you again and again until you share your little window on the internet.  The thoughts expressed in these pages have been incredibly important in my journey to understand compassion and selflessness for the people of Rockford. And how the pursuit of those two things could bring a wandering son home to Rockford.
