Rockford, IL – A local marketing campaign led by a city alderman / business owner along with her ad-firm / boutique-business owning friend transformed itself into an art gallery event and fashion show. The efforts are rooted within the city’s momentum to save Rockford’s feelings by making us look better (or something like that, we don’t know a damn thing about Rockford fashion).

Rockford fashion has taken a hit in the last 30 years along with the manufacturing and jobs decline. Our staff would like to comment more on Rockford area fashion but we don’t really know what it is since it took Guess jeans so long to come to the Cherryvale Mall in the 80s–before it was carpeted–and GAP left our community to rely on Target clothes. That is the awful truth, we doubt we can break the noose any better than that.

Below are a few brilliant marketing campaign excerpts from the cover story written by “Mr. Staff Report” featured in The Rock River Times, May 1-7th Print Edition, and online.  Click here to read the entire story about the ad campaign that turned into a city art event:

Staff Report

… “I am astonished at the wonderful outcome of this project,” said Karen Elyea, Minglewood Boutique owner and Ward 11 alderman.

“What started as a way to sell more dresses has turned into a breathtaking testament to the hopes, dreams and will of post-industrial Rockford. These photos are just too good for a simple ad campaign. You’ve really got to see them all.”

… Sandi Kohn, Plush Boutique owner, added: “The exhibition reflects Rockford’s outer radiance by combining the beauty of its citizens, landmarks and businesses and raw talent of its people. It’s amazing how this marketing campaign quickly progressed into an artistic statement of all of our possibilities. The end result is exactly what I wanted to accomplish, but so much more.”

F*cking brilliant!
