Rockford, IL — The Rockford-area community asked for ketchup and potatoes to be added to their LINK card benefits, and the state of Illinois’ lawmakers answered by developing a new product line with the Heinz company that is only available in the Rockford region. Rockford is the first city in the United States to honor ketchup and potatoes in one bottle. State-wide praise for its deliciousness and branding appeal has been rolling in, too.
Derby is a global branding and product development consultant on the LinkedIn.com site who has worked with Heinz for over 30 years to perfect the Potato Ketchup product line for Illinois’s welfare program.
He added, “Give the people what they want—genetically modified potatoes and ketchup with edible chemicals. The combination of simple marketing messages with clever plastic packaging will ensure taste and emotions-based purchases by Rockford area LINK members. Rockford is the perfect test market to transform potatoes and ketchup into Potato Ketchup. The people have spoken, it’s all they can afford to do these days. The Potato Ketchup will help them feel better—and increase Heinz’s profit margins to roll out the new product to the entire country by 2025.”
Transformation is tricky for curing a community’s obesity while the country works on bringing all sides of the ketchup and potato debate together. However, this is one more successful step towards becoming a top twenty-five city by 2025. We can do this—be the solution, ignore the problems.
