Local Woman Sets Swimming Record

A Loves Park native, Shannan Revels, set the new record for the most laps swam against the Rock River current on Saturday, September 9th, 2012. Revels completed 11 laps across the river, starting her attempts on the west end of the Auburn Street bridge, swimming towards the east end and back. Revels said, “I’ve always wanted to do something important. Each winter I think about it. This year I figured I’d beat Winter to it!” Asked if she would be trying to beat her own record, “Yes, you bet. In the springtime, cross my fingers!”
