“The Master” Causes Local Protest at Showplace 16
The new movie, The Master, from director/writer, Paul Thomas Anderson, aka, P.T. Anderson, caused confusion at the Showplace 16 in Rockford, IL this weekend. Locals walked out of the theater protesting the film because of some of the film’s scene’s– and the lack of specific scenes they were expecting.
Reba Valentine and her husband Ron along with their children, Tina and Ronnie Jr., were four of the film’s protesters. “There’s no sex til the end of the movie for one. There’s no car crashes and I could swear to God I saw Vin Diesel on the TV talking about being in this movie,” said Mrs. Valentine. “No honey, it was the Rock, not Vin Diesel,” argued her husband, Ron.
Locals protesting the nationally praised film agreed with Reba and Ron when they told us and a listening lobby crowd, “Why would I go to a movie to think for over 2 hours? Why in God’s name would I do that if there’s no sex or car crashes every 10-15 minutes? This is Rockford, IL, people, this ain’t Harvard or Hollywood. We want our money back!” Everyone then joined in to yell, ” Where did our time go? We want our money back! Where did our time go? We want our money back! Where did our time go? We want our money back! Where did our time go? We want our money back!”
RKFDNews.com’s Lisa Solond was there and disagreed with the movie’s local protestors, calming them after their chant and offering hope to them, “Christmas is almost here, don’t worry. Fast & The Furious 8 will be here sooner than you can think.”
Everyone cheered.
