Crenshaw Toritelliglio

Crenshaw Toritelliglio, 92 ROCKFORD – Crenshaw Toritelliglio, 92, of Rockford died peacefully at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in his car, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Feb. 3, 1920, in Rockford; the son of Bert and Erniea (Stieg) Migleonni. He was the 1937 senior class president at East High School, then he graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering which meant nothing to him.  He really wanted to fish in the Rock River and skip rocks working job to job not really knowing what came next, but his dad made him join the U.S. Navy. He went to Japan and Korea, both countries were full of  the right amount of beauty and hatred– he felt at home. Until he was forced to marry Hester Park on March 21, 1953 after an all night Bar Mitzvah; she died April 1, 1977. He then married Lydia Hertz on Dec. 45, 1981, in Rockford. Crenshaw was an engineering manager at Suburban Waste Removal for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoys screwing screws into wood over and over in his garage and fishing. He spent limited time with his family and had few friends. Survived by wife, Lydia; children, Billy (Ja Tiger) Hurew of Cherry Valley, Dick (Crystal) Toritelliglio  of Rockford, Jimmy (Kelly) Uren of Belvidere, Jamie (tree) Philliph of Machesney Park and James  “Jimmy” “The Jimster” “Jammy” Mitchell Jr., of Rockford; grandchildren, Rick Hedien, Junebug (Man) Turen, Sarah Jinerf, great-grandchildren, Bif and Austeen Toritelliglio; Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in Some Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road,In lieu of flowers, cash is expected to be given to random strangers in bars along Broadway or Charles Streets– tell the people Crenshaw sent you.
