MACHESNEY PARK –Village president Tobias Lickstrand wants to party.

“The people out there think the Mayor is the top dancer and he should be and he’s not as it stands right now,” said Lickstrand

Machesney Park Village President Tobias Lickstrand says he unknowingly voted to lose his right to party, and now the local leader wants it back.

“I have no authority over anyone at Village Hall,” said Lickstrand. “I can’t even throw a party when I want to”

It stems from a measure passed a year ago that gives the city administrator the sole ability to plan party’s and dances. That person does not need the mayor’s consent. Lickstrand voted yes.He says he gave up too much power.

“The thing is that a bright light was shined into my eyes blinding my thoughts,Lickstrand says he didn’t realize how bright the light actually was he just wanted to party and dance but it was too late. He’s now trying to change the local law and add a new twist.

The city’s mayor has a vision of bringing old school hip hop rap battles and break dancing contests into to his impoverished hometown. “Hell it works for Rockford why not here in the park” said Lickstrand .But his first task is to try to get full mayoral powers restored.

“If I can just get the board to see my vision I think I can get the power back” said Lickstrand

The mayor said he would need lots of crayons because this is going to be a big proposal.
