Willard Hunter Performs “God Bless the Chick-Fil-A” For Transform Rockford
Nashville does Rockford right thanks to rising country superstar, Willard Hunter, and his hit song, “God Bless the Chick-Fil-A.”
Hunter’s song is a tribute to the Rockford, IL region, and to the people who camped in the new location’s parking lot during 0° weather for a chance to win a maximum 52 free meals worth of fried chicken meals! An estimated $364.00 to $416.00 in free chicken meals were given away to a few lucky campers in 0° weather. Hunter was reached for a comment at his Nashville country home:
“I saw something on the news last week about my favorite chicken sandwich. Chick-Fil-A is like church to my stomach. Well, let me tell y’all. Rockford’s support for the church of chicken touched my heart and my stomach so much I had to rewrite a song about it. I called up Lee (Greenwood) and said, “Lee, I gots this idear for a song.” He asked me what, and I toad him, “it’s about Rockford, Illinois, God, and Chick-Fil-A.” Lee was like, “I dunno, Willard, whatever.” So I did it. I did for you Rockford. I want to help you Transform Rockford with my Chick-Fil-A country song.”
Thank you, Willard, from all of us in Rockford, IL.
