World Vaping Championships coming to Rockford.

ROCKFORD-
Rockford was chosen to hold the World Vaping Championship in 2015 but it all depends if the new hotels will be ready by then.
“It’s like as big as the Waterfront or Ribfest was 20 years ago.” “Right now there’s a whole subculture that’s growing.” Said Duane Kirby new tourism sheriff.If the hotels are ready we can handle the 20,000 people who will attend this event.
In the US it seems, a culture of competition is fast growing around “vaping” – the alternative way to “smoke” weed or tobacco that’s exploded in recent years.
People customise their own “vape pens”, and compete to see who can blow the biggest clouds.
Every teenager knows that blowing big smoke rings is cool and healthy. But surely even for Rockfordians or better yet Americans, this is taking it a bit too far? “We have professionals that we like, sponsor said Joseph Bemenudo owner of the local vape shop (Vape Me My Friend). Duane Randolph is probably the heaviest hitter in the world right now.” If he wins we all win.
The city has approved the event because we need the tourism dollars.
