Rockford Area Leaders Bid for Portillo’s Ownership

Rockford Area Leaders Bid for Portillo’s Ownership

Rockford Portillo'sRockford, IL – The announcement of Portillo’s going up for sale last week has interested the midwest’s premier business leaders.  The Cities of Rockford and Loves Park along with leaders from Transform Rockford, the Villages of Machesney Park, Rockton and Roscoe have partnered up to toss their collective name into the fire sale.  This is good news for fast food fans.

According to the article announcing the sale in last week’s May 1st edition of the Chicago Tribune, Portillo’s Restaurant group is exploring financial alternatives, including a possible sale of its fast casual division. That division includes all 38 Portillo’s restaurants, nine of which also house Barnelli’s Pasta Bowl locations.”

Portillo's RockfordThe Chicago area’s popular restaurant, known for its beef and sausage sandwiches amongst its many fast food menu choices, has long been desired by Rockford area residents. Internet campaigns and previous efforts to bring a Mr. Dick Portillo’s midwestern original to the region have failed for decades due to regional leaders being too poor to afford Portillo’s amazing sandwiches.

In other great regional fast food news, Chick-fil-A is adding another location to the popular Route 172 area this summer.  Good times and great eats are on the horizon for the Cities of Rockford and Loves Park along with leaders from Transform Rockford, the Villages of Machesney Park, Rockton and Roscoe.

You will learn more when we know less.™
