Frank Lloyd Wright’s ‘Laurent’ House Collapses During Museum Opening
Rockford, IL – Misery surely loves the f**k out of Rockford’s company. The entire roof of Frank Lloyd Wright’s historic Laurent House collapsed after heavy rain hit it during its inaugral opening this weekend as a public museum.
Its debut was a success until rain came pouring through the roof and onto the Lobster Bisque buffet table. Organizers and VIP guests were rushed to nearby hospitals. No one has died as of tonight but the critical injury count is rising.
This is not the first time it’s happened in the last two years.
Harsh winter conditions left the Laurent House in a state of being physically handicapped last spring / early summer, which added to the ongoing costs of making the house museum ready for The Rockford to revel in this weekend. Coincidentally, it’s the only Wright architectural design in the world that was built to be handicapped friendly.
Organizers of “Transform The Rockford“ are asking the public to step up and buy Transformer Dollars to help restore the Laurent house as it was when Wright originally designed it–as well as repair the roof–which could set back the museum from finally opening up to the public another 9 years.
Garrison School and Midtown Loft developers are being asked to donate their missing TIF funds to rebuild Wright’s house ASAP for The Rockford of Illinois.
You will know more when we build a new Frank Lloyd Wright house with Transformer Dollars and missing TIF Funds.
