Harlem Road Toll Bridge Reopens With Portillo’s Drive-Thru Spring 2016
Machesney Park, IL – The Harlem Road Toll Bridge is being reinstalled come spring 2016. The once-avoided toll bridge will begin construction to re-add it in mid-January, 2016, with an expected finish of May, 2016.
Machesney Park sources have stated that the toll fee will be $1.00 to enter Machesney Park heading east on Harlem, and $1.45 to enter Rockford heading west on Harlem.
Machesney Park officials are working with Rockford City Council members to donate $0.68 of every toll paid until 2016 to assist with downtown Rockford’s development and boosting local transformation, hope, vision, excellence, faith and hope.
Milwaukee based property investment and redevelopment firm, Gorman & Co., are picking up the bill for the re-addition of the Harlem Toll Bridge.
Chinese investors working with Gorman & Co. to rehabilitate the region have requested that the Harlem Toll Bridge features a pit-stop Portillo’s fast food drive-thru to attract drivers that once ignored the toll bridge in its original incarnation years ago.
“We can bridge the future to success together,“said Timothy Strombg. “Machesney Park and Rockford can transform our region together. Portillo’s adding a second location in the Rockford-area region is a nice touch. We can do this. It will be a huge boost to the region’s economy. I believe.”

For that price, I’d be using Riverside or Latham. The little bit of extra gas would be less than the toll fees. Is this for real?
