Rockford Mayor Changes Graduation Requirements Policy
Rockford, IL– Mayor Barry Morrison scored a political victory on June 5th when administration officials announced the city’s intention to scrap the current regulation of a graduating student from 12 years of schooling to just 5.
Ultra-Orthodox aldermen and women, who represent a powerful voting bloc in the city, welcomed the announcement by hailing it as a victory for our small, snail-paced, developing city.
Following the implementation of the RPS 205 Special Diploma Project in 2009, high school students would have had to complete 22 credits to graduate. They also will be tested in core subject areas with End of Course exams, which is part of the Illinois Comprehensive Assessment Program, or ICAP.
Their performance on these exams will factor into their semester grade for the course. Under the new guidelines and curriculum student would only be required to complete 6 or 7 credits to graduate.
“It saves a lot of time and money,” said Morrison, who was backed by at least 6 aldermen who were singing Gregorian Chants in the city hall lobby.
“Our city is going through such change and transformation that students can graduate in the 4th or 5th grade depending on how much work they put in. This frees them up for some good old fashioned manual labor at one of our growing hotels and restaurants. When the train finally gets here in 2054, there will be alot of jobs opening up. I am sure of it!”, said Morrison.
No other information will ever be available.
